I am Ermie Pascoe. I’ve been an interior decorator in East London for 19 years. I’ve done many homes and a lot of corporate work and a few lodges. I only got into the business at about 45.
As a little girl, I would have sleepovers with my friend. She had a Barbie house and we would design and make clothes and hats and bags and then we would decorate the house. Hours of fun. I’ve always loved looking at homes and rooms and thought about how I would change things by either bashing out a wall or two or just rearranging the furniture and adding either colour or texture.
I am currently working on two hairdressing salons which is quite exciting. We’re adding a childrens section in the one salon. I’ve added wallpaper and pastel colour cubes to this room. I seem to have done a few different salons and an Aesthetic Laser Centre in the last few years.
The great news about the virus is that my younger daughter who is a designer in Hong Kong is teaching me AutoCAD while she is here during lockdown. I have a special long standing client who has just done huge renovations to her home. I will be able to do AutoCAD drawings for her to see what new furniture to allow for in her lounge as well as accessories, rugs and artwork.
Very excited about learning something new which will certainly enhance my business once the virus is over.
Lockdown is not such a bad thing at all when you are able to learn something new and you still get to spend time with your daughter, son in law, granddaughter and 3 week old granddaughter.
Excited for the rest of the year!!
So do you think we ever become too old to learn something new?
